There are many decisions made in the teenage years about God, relationships and how to live. Woodland Hills Family Church wants to partner with families as these questions get answered. Roots offers different environments to accomplish this through: weekly meetings, chances to serve together, mentoring, fun events, workshops and the main service. With our students, we place strong emphasis on making Christ the reason for what we do each and every day.
The vision behind Roots is the belief that spiritual growth is developed in the context of healthy, authentic and lasting relationships. Psalm 1 illustrates a person who is wise and follows God as one like a tree, planted by streams of water and yielding fruit. Our hope is that Jr. High students at Woodland Hills Family Church grow strong spiritual roots that to help them stand firm as a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
How do we accomplish this? Currently we offer a Sunday morning worship time at 9:00am and Wednesday night Life Groups at 6:00pm in the Student Life Center. This is a laid back environment where it is easy to reflect and ask questions. If you need help plugging in, please let us know by clicking here and filling out the form. We would love to get you involved!
What role do parents play in Woodland Hills Student Ministries?
We firmly believe that the parent(s) is the primary discipler of their children, the home is the primary place to make disciples, and a biblically based home is the most important component of a healthy society. Parents lay the foundation. We believe our job is to support and affirm that foundation with a team of non-parental, committed adults (staff and volunteer leaders) who will be voices of truth and encouragement working in concert with the efforts of parents.
As leaders and parents, our primary calling is not to keep our teenagers in the church, but to lead them to be the church. The best things parents can do is to connect with and invest in their student’s leaders, invite Parent Life Groups into your family and include them as a trusted partner in your parenting adventure.
We will be holding parent Life Groups and seminars to help come alongside parents. Even the best parents need consistent voices in their lives that encourage them to stay in sync with a strategy and to create a strong rhythm in their homes.
